I’m not entirely sure if this is because of the Chuck Schumer incident, but it seems like Apple is stepping up and handing out free bumper cases to iPhone 4 owners. We all know about “antenna-gate” and the “death grip” debacle but I can’t help but wonder that all the bad press could have been avoided had this been done earlier.

According to Steve Jobs at today’s Press Conference, iPhone return rates are surprisingly low and that there have been few AppleCare complaints about reception issues.

But that don’t matter. Apple is utilizing it’s enormous lump of wealth to send out free bumper cases to you guys through September 30th. Say you already bought a bumper? Not to worry. A refund is in order.

Next week you’ll be able to order your free iPhone 4 case on Apple.com and it’ll be shipped directly. Free. Is that better?

Wow. This has officially gotten way out of hand.

Chuck Schumer of the New York Senate just issued a press release demanding that Apple deliver a “clearly written explanation” on their reception problem. *Laughs uncontrollably*

You got to be kidding me. Being honest here, I never really knew that this was the sort of thing that Senators concern themselves with, although admittedly, Apple’s iPhone 4 problems should definitely be fixed immediately. I’m telling you guys, this has got to be personal. Maybe Schumer bought the iPhone 4 for himself but was absolutely humiliated, I mean put to shame by his legislation friends when he couldn’t make a 10 second phone call. Or maybe Schumer got the iPhone for his wife but since she couldn’t put it to use, she’s angry, and he’s sleeping on the couch. And now they’re not talking.

At any rate, Schumer has called a press conference – tomorrow. Somebody seems to have too much time.

iPhone4 just got released, albeit along with a bevy of problems. You probably know about them.
Anyway, it’s likely that a new, iPod touch is on the way. Though there’s no official designation, let’s be avant-garde my friends, and call it… iPod 4.

Rumors in the UK say that iPod 4 will handle Facetime (video conferencing) and it’ll feature 5MP digital cameras. HD capabilities are a likelihood with the device shooting at 720p. LED-Flashed cameras are also a must. What else can we stuff into this iPod 4? Assuming the iPod will utilize similar upgrades seen in the iPad, let’s include the iOS4 operating system, and an A4 processor.

Jobs has released yet another product. The iPhone 4 is beautifully curved, sleek, wondrously sexy and has an uncanny ability to make lots and lots of money. The damnest thing however is that it also has an uncanny ability to not take phone calls.

For the time being, iPhone 4 is plagued with reception problems that seem to be triggered when touched. Apple suggests that you circumvent the problem by avoiding as much contact with the iPhone as possible which to me, seems genuinely very stupid. It’s kinda like saying to a poor person that they’d be better off if they were rich. Curiously however, the problem can be temporarily solved if you buy one of Apple’s Bumper cases (ooh conspiracy). $30 for the fix doesn’t seem to be too bad, but for the cash-strapped it is. Thank goodness for the Internet.

A man by the name of Oliver Nelson has found that rubber-band bracelets serve as viable alternatives. Oh you’ll find these everywhere. On the streets, in your dining room or even “for free” at local charity booths. Really all you would do is stretch it round the iPhone and if you’re extra available that afternoon, you could cut little spaces for the headphone jack, the dock connectors and any possible interfaces. Dude! You practically saved $30. Funny thing is that your iPhone 4 is probably packaged using fat rubber bands.
